Here Is Information On Immigration To Canada

By Carol Gibson

Looking at the demography of Canada over the years, the country has been admitting a lot of immigrants arriving at its borders. Despite the fact that it is the biggest county in all of America, Canada has always struggled with a low population. The current population of Canada is only 10 percent that of United States. Following this, there is commitment by the government to boost the population in order to realize high productivity in the longer term. This is worth knowing about immigration to Canada.

There are numerous programs instituted by the government in order to promote admission of immigrants coming from various nations. All the programs available necessitate one to pass through several steps so as to be approved for migration. This process is usually a long one and takes time. Many a times, the process take several months, however, it could run into several years to get approved.

Knowing what options are available can increase the chances of being approved faster. One can also avoid delays, frustrations, and pitfalls if they know how they should go about the process. Generally, there are five options that one can pursue to become a Canadian citizen. These five options exist in form of programs and they include express entry program, family class sponsorship, LMIA work visa, Canadian investor immigration, and the provincial nominee programs (PNP).

Skilled workers can get admitted into the country through the express entry program. Sophisticated systems are used to asses, recruit, and select skilled personnel or people with the required qualifications to become Canadian citizens. The federal economic immigration programs have three sub-programs that are used to approve immigrants into the country. The sub-programs are CEC, FSTP and FSWP. These sub-programs are aimed at meeting the labor requirements in the Canadian labor market.

The Canadian immigration policy places a lot of importance on family reunification. That is why it is possible for people already living in Canada to sponsor their families in other countries to gain permanent Canadian residence and citizenship. One must be a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen for them to be able to sponsor their families.

It is only the children and spouses that can be sponsored. The children being sponsored should be under 22 years. However, there are some exemptions to the rule. Currently, the system does not allow one to sponsor grandparents or parents. One can use super visa category instead to sponsor grandparents and parents into Canadian cities.

A lot of individuals applying for Canadian citizenship begin by acquiring a Canadian job offer. Afterwards, they can apply for a work-related visa. This work visa enables one to move to any Canadian city. As for LMIA work visa program, one is required to get a Canadian work offer first. It is the Canadian employer that can apply for LMIA. It is only after the LMIA has been approved that an applicant can apply for a work permit.

There is an increasing popularity in the PNP route of becoming a Canadian citizen. A lot of provinces in Canada like British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario have come up with their own systems that they use to admit immigrants into the country. When one uses a program from a given province to gain Canadian citizenship, they must live in that province for a given period first.
