Back in the day of World War II, there was no assistance for soldiers who came back from the battlefield. Nobody even knew about the psychological conditions and how this may have affected the soldiers. They simply had to get on with their lives. They were supposed to come back and provide for their families. These days, mental health help for veterans MN is something that more people are aware about.

There have been big improvements since the days of World War II when people did not know about the psychological process. The little they did know about this, was not something that they talked about. They were meant to be strong. It was not the done thing to talk about your emotions and how you are feeling. You were meant to be proud of your achievements.

It can especially relate to soldiers who have been through a tough time, killing other soldiers. They may have seen close friends die in front of their own eyes. They had no time to grieve and simply had to go back onto the battlefield and continue with their job. Soldiers are trained not to think about what was happening at the time. But when they get home, it all comes flooding back to them.

As a result there are still veterans who have been sitting in homes all of their lives. They have been struggling with PTSD all of their lives. Of course, there are those who have received support. They have had families who have stood by them. It was easier for them to talk about what they have been though and to go out and integrate into society again.

There are one on one counseling sessions that veterans can attend. This is usually mandatory when they come back from the battlefield. However, it is something that should be ongoing for the person who has been though a situation. Many people commit suicide or they at least attempt this.

In most cases it is essential as a lot of veterans have committed suicide. These facilities were not provided for veterans in Vietnam. There are now many homes for them all over the country. They have never dealt with what happened to them. Families need to encourage the individual to take advantage of these facilities.

It can especially affect those who are in the air force who come into contact with a lot of deaths and see things that veterans don't see a lot of the time. There are more suicides amongst those in the air force. However, over time this has reduced since there has been counseling which was almost mandatory.

It is common for soldier to get nightmare which can obviously be stressful. This may be something that they will work on in a practical way. Role play is another technique which can be effective, especially when other people join in. Group therapy is also something to consider because it always is so successful I the way it is conducted.
