Busy People Can Appreciate Peach Cobbler Mix In A Bag

By Carl Powell

Anyone with limited time on their hands should know that eating out is not the only option. Having a full course meal at home can be done regularly with a little planning. For instance, one can take a shortcut or two, such as using greens that have already been chopped and washed, dinner rolls that only need to be warmed, or peach cobbler mix in a bag to make a hot dessert that actually tastes homemade.

One thing that most people dread about cooking at home is the preparation and measurements. With mixes, whether it be for a savory or side dish, have the basics of everything needed to make a single meal. Sometimes, dessert may be passed over because a person feels that it takes to much time but this does not have to be. Cobbler mixes are great for a warm dessert that takes little effort.

Cobbler topping is also good for layering a parfait, making crumb cake, or by itself as a portable snack. Since it is mostly oats and spices, it can add a healthy element to most desserts. Just mix the required ingredients and bake as indicated before adding to a prepared dessert.

Having a premeasured mix around the house not only saves time but is great for those who do not care to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Even the most enthused cooks do not mind having a little help once in a while. So this is a great way to show the kids and anyone else in the household how to mix and bake the easy way.

Prepared mixes also allow for the easy addition of other ingredients. Popular additions may include ground ginger, raisins, or chopped nuts. A good rule of thumb for those unfamiliar with spices is to add no more than a couple of shakes, or less than a half cup, per one cup of mixture. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more melted butter or oil until desired consistency is achieved.

Although the cobbler is a popular member of the pie family, premeasured mixes can make these a less guilty pleasure. For instance, fresh or frozen peaches that are unsweetened is a good choice. Adding sugarless applesauce to the filling instead of sugar makes it more nutritious. Also, using an oil that is low in saturated fat can cut some of the calories.

Having a convenient mix allows anyone to create a smaller version using any grill. More people are finding that fresh peaches cooked over heat can be added to many recipes and a deep dish pie should not be the exception. The warmer months are ideal for cooking outdoors and this requires just the browning of cobbler crust. Just place fruit and mixture in a shallow pan and place over heat for a few minutes.

Many people are amazed at how easy it is to make this scrumptious dessert. Even better, it can be adjusted for dietary reasons and still taste like something made from scratch. It is so simple that even someone who does not care for baking can have a treat in as little as 15 minutes.
