In addition, psychoanalysts prefer to use a couch while psychotherapists often prefer to meet clients in more relaxed environments. In fact, when working with children, many psychotherapists will visit a child at home, school and other locations in which the child feels most comfortable.

When it comes to benefits, there are those whom can benefit more from psychoanalysis and those whom can benefit more from psychotherapy. In either case, clients must be open and honest about different feelings and expectations if any healing is going to take place. For, both of these practices work to heal underlying issues which if not revealed, can not be healed. As such, honesty is often the most integral aspect clients can bring to the table when wanting to see improvement in this area.
