Advantages Of Hotel Room Blocks

By Stephen Allen

There are a number of reasons why reserving several rooms or more at a hotel would be advantageous. Hotel room blocks can save a lot of time, hassle and also money. It is an excellent idea to consider for an upcoming major event that requires a lot of advance planning.

One of the most common room blocks is for weddings. This is particularly the case when families are coming in from abroad or from other towns and cities to attend. Many of them may not know the area well, and so having a safe, comfortable accommodation available to them is a godsend. It also allows them to stay in-the-know and close to what is happening on a daily basis during their visit. Transportation also becomes a breeze to arrange for larger groups of people.

Having guests accommodated at the same place has many benefits. Though relatives may be in town for a wedding, it's a great opportunity to have a mini reunion at the same time. This is especially the case if they all happen to be staying in the same place!

Another benefit of blocking off a number of rooms is the discounts often available as a result. Many hotels, and airlines, have great offers on packages when booked by groups. This could include things like meals or other amenities at the location, as well as hugely reduced prices for larger groups on great rooms.

This is a wonderful option for out-of-town conferences, especially where the company may be paying for its employees to attend. This is also a good idea for other group trips such as school or club trips abroad. People who attend festivals such as Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago can take full advantage of this type of deal on an annual basis. Sometimes, this can be booked up to a year in advance!

A room block is typically nine hotel rooms or more. There are different types of room block available dependent on the needs of the guests. Websites such as Skipper are really good at determining what type of reservation is best for a bride and groom's wedding guests, taking a lot of legwork out of this part of wedding planning.

A courtesy room block is generally advised when it comes to weddings. The reason for this is that there is no additional fee for any rooms that are not filled when the time comes. A guaranteed room block requires a down payment in advance to secure the room, by committing financially to a certain amount of the total rooms needed.

A booking agreement is an important part of this entire process and must be read carefully after negotiating. There will often be a cut off date for guests to make their bookings, after which rooms might be unavailable. Hotels can also add rooms if the entire block is booked and there are most guests who need to be accommodated. Some agreements may have a penalty for unused rooms and other might be very flexible on their terms.
