A Lesson On Listening To Your Gut

By Evan Sanders

It's time to let go of this person you think you "should be" in order to become who you truly are.

When you let go of what you believe that you should be - what the world is trying to tell you to be - and listen to who you are deep down inside, true magic begins to happen. Everything in this world is making an attempt to drag you towards the middle where mediocrity lives. It's telling you that you ought to be this way, dress this way, talk this way, like this music, do these things , and the list goes on and on.

Forget all of the "should be" nonsense and start listening to your gut.

Naturally, the more you express yourself and put yourself out there the more negative criticism will come your way. That's just the name of the game. There will be every force imaginable to bring you back down into the middle where mediocrity lives. Don't fall for that trap. Keep being yourself and act as a light for others to follow. Eventually everyone else will come around.

Be willing to risk.

If you're going to gamble on your dreams, you better be ready to feel the pressure from the giant outside forces of normality. I did not understand that at the beginning. I believed that this force trying to bring me back in was the right thing to follow. Wrong. And in numerous cases I discovered that the voice murmuring deep within me was the right thing to do because that is where my purpose and passion lived. If I paid little attention to that I might be forever living in deep regret.

Dreams can save your life. Dreams can help you become something you've never been before and take you out of the mud completely. Dreams have the ability to not only ignite your heart but incite the hearts of everyone around you as well. If you're willing to chase your dreams and suffer through the constant obstacles that come your way, there's nothing you can't accomplish in this world.

Don't worry about being different or what other people think about you. In the end, none of that stuff matters anyways. Instead, focus on who you are and what you want to give to the world. If you know the reasons why you are doing it and it's for a good purpose then do it. Don't let anyone's opinion of you define your life.

Sure, it might not work out. But what if it did? Wouldn't that be an incredible adventure?
