Being involved in the world of community service is something that you will have to take seriously. Before you proceed with your training, you will have to know the things that will be expected from you. So, read on and slowly realize that you can be one of the reasons why a person will still be alive.
The first thing that you would need to do is act on your feet. As a community paramedic, you would be the first person who would be in the site of the accident. If a person is about to die, then you would have to save him to the best of your abilities. Use everything that you have learned during your training.
Second, you will have to be strict in keeping everybody out of your way. Take note that you will still have some things to do before you put the victim into the ambulance. If people will keep on hovering around you and blocking your source of light, then there is a great chance that you will cause the other person to die.
Third, you would need to be diligent with your office tasks when you are not in action. Keep in mind that this is still part of what you have signed up for. It may be boring compared to what you do in the actual field but then, you are expected to be accurate in here too. If not, then the records would be all over the place.
You need to avoid getting bored during events that will require your service. Yes, sitting for a very long time is not your cup of tea but then, there is nothing that you can basically do. You simply have to wait for an accident to happen and attend to the person involved using your excellent skills.
You will have to keep an eye on everyone in the event. You may not know any of them but then, they are your responsibility. If they will somehow break their knee while they are doing some sport, then it will be your job to run over there and get the cast ready. Movements will have to be minimized as well.
You will need to be a good trainer. Take note that you are working in a hospital that needs more people to work for them. So, if you want the operations in your department to run smoothly, then teach the newbies everything that you know. In that way, they will ask less questions and never disturb you.
You would need to be ready to be placed in different outlets. This is how your flexibility would be tested. Actually, you would have to go through the same routine. The only difference is that you would be meeting different people and their injuries can vary depending on what they would do in that event.
Overall, you have to be the greatest in your batch. Know the number to your back up. You will need it when things get worse.
