Discovering A Legal Santa Cruz Dispensary

By Annabelle Holman

California medical patients often have to obtain medical marijuana from a local dispensary. At times, patients travel to different dispensaries for variety. A Santa Cruz dispensary can be an interesting place to visit. Most allow visitors from outside the area as long as a valid California patient ID is presented upon arrival. If having never visited a dispensary in the county, the dispensary may have to authorize the individual as a patient before providing service.

Santa Cruz is a popular destination for fun in the Sun. It is also a popular destination for California Medical Marijuana patients. Having been reported has having some of the most interesting dispensaries in the State. Patients visiting the city may want to be sure and visit the Santa Cruz boardwalk, the many coffee shops, ice cream parlors and restaurants on Pacific Street and the Santa Cruz diner while in town.

While there have been problems with patients, it is more often the dispensaries who face the most risk legally. In California, if a patient follows all the rules and guidelines, most often there will be no issue. Whereas, when patients go outside the law, buy and sell or distribute to others, then the patient can lose the right as a patient and face criminal action.

While Washington and Colorado passed legalization in the 2012 election, California failed to do so. Many legalization supporters are still in shock at this result. Supporters now just hope that Colorado and Washington have set a precedent for legalization in California and other States in 2016. It is currently reported that next in line for legalization are most likely Alaska and Oregon.

Unless those two States can show positive results, it may still be some time before marijuana is legalized Nationwide. With having already been legal in other countries, and the early reports of success from Colorado and Washington, many believe at some point the United States as a whole may see it legalized. Still, it may quite some time before this comes to pass.

In other areas, while legalization is a goal, there are not enough supporters to supply the signatures for a ballot initiative. Most supporters also believe that redistricting going on in many areas is to offset voters in one party direction or the other. The United States did recently vote to reschedule marijuana to a lower level status than others.

Polling shows that medical and recreational use of marijuana is at an all time high in America. It also shows that approximately 58% of U. S. Citizens believe in legalization. While over 60% believe in providing medical marijuana to those in need. Regardless, whether legalized or otherwise, it is important to follow all laws and guidelines as related to the use of marijuana.

When traveling, it is important to know the laws of each and every State one may visiting on the journey. This is especially true for medical marijuana patients. An online search of laws for each State will provide this information. Individuals planning on visiting Colorado or Washington in the near future may want to contact the State to request updated information.
