A Wild At Heart Boot Camp Poconos Can Change Lives

By Tanisha Berg

This type of boot camp is one of a different kind. It does have certain physical activities but the main purpose is to change hearts. A wild at heart boot camp Poconos is attended only by men and gives them the opportunity to discover a new sense of identity. They are freed from the pressure of what they ought to and should do and discover what God wants for them in all its fullness. As a result of this, they go back to the every day situations transformed and able to live life with new passion.

The settings chosen for such camps are usually have a natural beauty and tranquility. Away from suburban settings, men have time to reconnect with God. They also connect with one another and share their experiences.

Teachings are given to help give these men a taste of what God has available for them. Many of them are tired and suffer from spiritual malaise. They are often doing what they ought to do and never experience the wild, adventurous, manly passions God has instilled in them. The teachings reveal to them how they have pushed aside the passionate and deep parts of their lives.

John Eldridge, the author of the book that inspired these camps, saw a need for men to be more than just dutiful, loyal and responsible. They needed to discover the wildness in their hearts too and experience their innate desire for adventure. When men speak about the best times of their lives, this often involves adventure. This is why outdoor activities like horse riding, fishing, target shooting and hiking are an important part of the events on offer.

Many men may grow up thinking about Jesus in the way He was portrayed at Sunday School. They often think about Him as the sacrificial lamb rather than as the Lion of Judah. They begin to understand that He was not always meek but confronted culture, tradition and religion. This understanding helps them to discover a sense of purpose and their roles as warriors in the battle of faith.

Many men report having experienced healing of wounds at such camps. These wounds are often received because of the expectations of others. They have often lived with these wounds all their lives and it has affected their relationships and the way they live life. When healing and restoration comes, they can live life fully and passionately once more. This often has an effect on all their relationships.

Their relationships with their wives often change as a result of the changes to their own hearts. Women battle to relate to weak, apathetic men. As they discover themselves, so their wives start to see a strength in them that they admire. Men are encouraged to fight for a woman and to love her as Christ loves the church.

Camps like this takes men away from their every day responsibilities. This allows them the time and space to reconnect with the deep desires of their hearts. They experience healing and are freed to experience a new spiritual vitality. Instead of simply being what others expect them to be, they begin to discover what God has for them as men and live with all their hearts.
