Latest Nigerian Events In Development

By Minnie Whitley

Happenings are on the rise in Nigeria and with each new day. Some of the latest Nigerian events are discussed in the article.Event planners are busy preparing the numerous functions that are upcoming. An example is the Business Trade show and conference which will be in the city of Abuja.

The main reason behind the hosting of this event is to look into the different ways that will help improve the agricultural sector. The people will benefit from this by the increased availability of food in the country, creation of jobs and promotion of the revenue of the country. In the guest list will be highly valued agriculturalists and other honored members.

Also, on a current note, more than seventy members of the Islamist group known as Boko and Haram were killed. This happened during an operation by the Nigerian military in one of the towns in the country. There have been a number of cases where these two troops end up colliding. The president ended up creating a state of emergency in three of the states hence giving the military a wider range to cover while dealing with the terrorists.

There has been organized a workshop for young researchers in arts, education and social sciences. The topic of discussion is planned to be the integration of research in development. This is aimed at targeting the youth since they are a majority. They are to be equipped with skills to be able to examine and come up with new ideas and be entrepreneurs in order to focus towards development. The event will be hosted in the University of Ibadan, located in Nigeria.

On a global view, the world economic forum is scheduled to be open in the republic. Many leaders of the world including presidents of some countries will all gather in Abuja to attend this event. This makes it the first country in west Africa to host such an event. Its importance is to look into to the difficulties or opportunities that lie within the continent.

Still in connection with the Islam troop, they are said to have kidnapped school girls from a secondary school located in place known as Chibok. This town is mainly dominated by Christians and the motive for this doing is not clear but some say that they will be converted to slaves or forced into marriages which are wrong. People are mainly engaging themselves in prayers hoping for the best.

Other news report that the elections planned next year may not be successful. Insecurity is partly to blame for this. This is because with such a high rate of crime, the time is not yet ripe for new leaders to be chosen and according to their constitution, if elections are not held then the reigning president is bound to continue serving but all in all, this is just a general view.

The lives of many in Nigeria are at risk with public service vehicles being the main target. Currently suspects of these crimes are being held in cells as further investigations are being carried.
