About The Famous Catholic Renewal

By Tracie Knight

The catholic church has undergone many changes over the past few years in order to adapt to modernism and the current mindset of people. One of the most drastic of these changes would be none other than the Catholic Renewal which happened sometime during the twentieth century. For those who are interested in this period of history, here is some information about it.

Now before the whole church was revamped and transformed into the entity it is today, it went through three major changes during the twentieth century. Now the three changes that happened before the twentieth century ended was the translation of the Word, the modification of liturgy, and of course the new defining of faith in the lives of the worshippers. It was because of these three changes that the Vatican was able to adapt to its followers.

Of course the first of these three changes was none other than the translation of the Bible. Now for many centuries, the Church has been using Vulgate which was actually the fourth century Latin translation of the Bible. Now since not everyone could read the Bible in Latin, the Vatican came up with versions of the Bible in contemporary languages for everyone to understand.

This stage started when Pope Pius XII ordered the church to do so. The church used the original texts of the Bible in order to make a translated version of it without the text losing its essence. It was for this reason that a lot of work was done on their old versions so that the new version could be fully understood and would also has the same meaning as the old versions.

Now the second change that the Vatican implemented was the change in liturgical services. Now a liturgy in a nutshell, is the term used for services that worshippers would attend in order to praise God and learn more about the Word of God. Now during this time, the Second Council made the liturgies a little less formal than before and called it a Mass instead of a liturgy.

This stage on the other hand only started when the Second Vatican Council came into power. Now this council was lead by the famous Pope John XXIII and was closed by Pope Paul VI. It was during their reign that the liturgical practices were modified a little bit in order to adapt to modern times so that more and more followers would be able to relate.

The last stage was the concept of faith that the worshippers already had. Now during the olden times, people were very strict when it came to faith as they would just be instructed by the church to do this and to do that. After the renewal, the church more or less made the concept of faith a little bit more personal.

Now as one can see, the Vatican really made a lot of changes in their practices so that it would really fit into the modern times. Of course the church is still trying to make itself better for the worshippers and also the people who would want to follow the Word of God. It is for this reason that the renewal had to be done so that the Church could also adapt along with times.
