The Possibility Of Same Sex Married Life

By Cathy Mercer

There is a slow emergence in gay marriages and a lot of people have become interested in the happenings of a same sex married life. Perhaps all the society knows about is what goes on in heterosexual marriages, so that leave a lot of questioning for gay couples. There are a lot of benefits and pros and cons to having gay marriage, but there may be more pros than cons. It is with pride that a lot of states and countries have become accepting to gay couples in this modern day and age.

There are a lot of pros and cons to gay marriage that a lot of people do not know of. First thing, everyone should be given equal opportunity to love whom they love and be with them should they please. Anyone should be allowed to publicly express and celebrate their commitment to each other, whether be it homosexual commitment or heterosexual commitment. Whatever the society can offer to heterosexual marriages should also be freely offered to homosexual relationships as well.

Several benefits are given to straight couples that pertain to healthcare or insurance. These benefits should be easily translated to gay couples as well because it is their right to have access to these types of benefits, no matter what kind of marriage they are in. If homosexual marriages are not allowed in some states, their state takes from the couple these specific benefits.

Whatever values society upholds today are molded by the people themselves. Therefore, the institution of marriage should change as the people themselves change. By this time, marriage should be redefined because people have come to accept certain values and changes in this society.

Denying people of their rights only means that they are being discriminated against. Discrimination is a serious issue that the state itself should not be practicing. Denying gay couples certain rights is putting them in the minority without much reason behind it. Everyone should be entitled to their rights and not be treated as inferiors.

Gay couples have been having a lot of difficulty adopting children. Child adoption is hard enough as it is because it is a very tedious and long process. This endeavor is even more difficult for gay couples who are not married. Their non legal partnership is grounds for childcare not to classify them as potential parents. However, the sexual orientation of a person does not determine his or her parental capabilities.

In a loving and committed relationship, the couples are less likely to experience depression and social withdrawals. If gay couples are not allowed to be wed, their chances of experiencing social withdrawals and psychological disorders might be higher. People who are in love should be more than allowed to be with that person.

Besides, same sex married life could be very enjoyable for the couple because of the very essence of their relationship. Since they both are in the similar gender, they both know what each other wants. They have an idea of how the other must feel mainly because they have the similar biological sex.
