A Review Into The Work Of Ibogaine Clinics

By Terrie Joyner

Ibogaine clinics are facilities that provide proper ibogaine therapy. They are available with the aim of helping patients transition back to healthy lives in a quick and joyful manner. Most of these clinics are situated in places that there is a near access to places that offer serene accommodation and quiet places to allow the individual go through the detoxification process in their quiet and peaceful rooms.

Nutritional and a wide variety of delicious meals are offered to complement the cleansing process. Natural herbs are also often provided to control any insomnia symptoms and anxiety that could arise as well as to control any other withdrawal symptoms or signs that a patient may experience. Before undergoing therapy depending on the duration of time the patient has been instructed, any intake of food and fluids must be stopped 1 hour prior to starting it.

Considering the very serious consequences that may result from drug interactions, patients are required to disclose and remember every medication they are on. Of special interest are anti-depressant medications, these drugs interfere with the liver enzyme that are responsible for metabolizing ibogaine. Other drugs are the opioid group that also affects the treatment. Patients must stop these drugs at least 10 hours prior to the time scheduled to start treatment. This is important because it improves the efficacy of the therapy while decreasing risk of side effects such as the withdrawal signs and symptoms.

In these clinics, there are other important supplements that are needed to enhance the medication. Before and after every treatment patients are highly advised to take magnesium and calcium supplements. These are very good to the heart as it pumps the blood that is being cleansed from toxins and to the central nervous which is strengthened against the common withdrawal effects like changes in the sleep pattern and anxieties.

In most cases after the first day of treatment, most general practitioners will prescribe the drug Valerian and in few cases benzodiazepines like Valium with a target of enhancing quick stabilization of the sleep pattern because it is usually deranged in most individuals. After about 3 days the pattern usually stabilizes.

After successful completion of the allocated dose of therapy depending on the initial problem, the patients are started on aftercare therapy. This is basically follow up with advice on how to remain healthy, they are advised to take nutritious meals particularly the natural types and drink much water about 2 glasses in a day all in an attempt to flush out more toxins that might have remained. Regular exercises are also a good initiative to make their thoughts focused on overcoming their problem.

Finally patients are advised to maintain a journal to remind them to see their doctor to access their progress and monitor any complications that might arise from treatment. Joining self-help group where other people who had similar addictions and have undergone the clinic give their experiences and in the process strengthening each other.

The aftercare is an important part of the medication that the therapists dedicate a lot of time in. This is because some patients could revert to the initial problem they were in, the ibogaine clinics follow-up are therefore prolonged until there is an assurance the patients are stable.
