There are opportunities to help others all around you. You may need some motivation to help others, but all you need to do is take a look at yourself for that motivation. There are others out there that do not have the basic necessities that you have. Some don't have a roof over their heads and others don't have food to eat. So if you count all your blessings you will see just how fortunate you are compared to many others who don't even have a fraction of what you do. Everyone can help each other if they choose. There is nothing that you need that is extraordinary or unusual in order to help others out. You just need to have a good heart and one that is willing to help others when you see the need. You can donate money if you have it or rather buy the resources that are lacking such as warm blankets to keep children warm during old nights and food parcels so children have something to eat everyday and no child has to go to sleep on an empty stomach.
Some choose to fly across the globe to help others. There is nothing wrong with this especially if you have the time and money to do so, however, if you want to help those who live in your very own community or one that is close by that is a great idea as well. The closer they are to home the easier it would be to start helping.
You can choose to help others at any point and time that you want. Some prefer to help others during the holidays since it is a time for family and they tend to remember these people at this time. However, you do not need to help only during the festive season, you can choose to be different and help out throughout the year if your time permits it.
