Where Do We Go After Death

By Leslie Ball

Spiritualists and scientists have differed in their opinions on what usually happens to the soul after we die. When a person dies, the physical body stops to be in existence while the rest of his existence and consciousness continues. Death does not mean that life has come to an end but a departure for the spirit world which is our real home. Where do we go after death is hence a question that depends on ones beliefs and knowledge on the subject matter.

In the world today, people are more aware of the things that happened in the early days that the people of the past did. The life after death issues were however well known to them compared to people who existed in the past. The topic is not taught in schools and many people choose to ignore it by not mentioning it.

When the body stops to function and the connection between the soul and the body is non-existent, true death takes place. The sooner someone accepts that they are dead, the sooner they undergo the real death. Such a person roams around where they used to live before they died for approximately a week or so.

After dying, a spirit guide usually a person that was close to them comes to lead them to the spirit world via the river Styx that separates this world and the next. The guide will assume the form of a Buddhist monk, a Christian priest or an angel. The way this river appears is different based on the religion of that person and once it is crossed, there is no point of return.

Souls are generally reluctant to move away from the earth after dying but in many cases, they hang around for a few days for their funeral. Most of the souls pass through some sort of a tunnel towards light coming from heaven. Ghosts are spirits who have decided to remain within the earth with a high degree of dissatisfaction and can be dealt with by exorcism.

Christians know very little about what happens between the period when someone dies and the last days when Christ will come up. The bible only talks about what will happen during resurrection and what will happen after that. Christians believe that the body and the soul do not separate after death but they both sleep until the coming of Christ on the last day.

Death is a depressing fact of life that people have learn to accept with scientists even gathering information and fact that tries to explain this. Part of these fact is the ability of a deceased brain to show signs of consciousness even when the body is dead and cannot function.

For some people, they get to have the privilege of knowing when they are supposedly going to die which happens when one is diagnosed with a terminal illness. As terrible as it may be, there is a good side to it as they have a chance to make a their wrongs right and basically leave peacefully and more so saying their goodbyes to their loved ones.
