What Navicular Pain Is All About

By Minnie Whitley

If your riding buddy is walking limply while it is on the field, then you are recommended to have its heel portion checked by a medical professional. You are the owner of this horse which makes you fully responsible for it. Thus, you must be able to do everything for its welfare and that includes introducing yourself to the navicular bone.

First, know that this bone may be small but its effects can actually be very big on the way your pony runs in the field. Thus, you must be able to take it seriously. Consider the possibility of navicular pain even if your horse is not capable of telling you exactly that.

If your horse has already been in this condition before, then you would know how to go on about it. However, if this is your first time to see your pet in such pain, then you would have to distinguish the things which have caused it to be in that kind of situation. Be able to conduct your own research as much as possible. Get a hold of all the online and offline sources that you would be able to find.

Also, be able to stay focused on its symptoms. If some of the symptoms are already being reflected by your animal, then you would just have to let its doctor check on the navicular bone. Moreover, the problem can easily escalate over time so just prepare for the worst.

Also, pay attention to the ligaments supporting that part of the body of your horse. If they have been injured in the field or have gone inflamed due to excessive training, then you would need to let a veterinarian conduct a diagnosis. You would have to do this as soon as possible to prevent the problem from escalating. An x ray examination is definitely a necessity.

If the navicular bone has caused its other buddies to stray away from their original position, then a realignment procedure called the shoeing treatment is needed to be done. It is a requirement to get the heels in tip top shape again. Failure to avail of this process might lead your pet to be a limp for the rest of its life.

Supply your animal with the medicines necessary for its recovery as well. Have the prescription paper with you when you are ready to make your purchase. Just do not delay on doing this task because every second matters for the treatment of your riding partner.

If the pain in the heel of your pet has gone beyond extremes, then you will have to prepare it for a brief medical operation. Keep in mind that this process would not be easy on both of you. You will need to monetarily invest on it and just hope for the best.

Overall, the fact remains that one horse is different from the other. Thus, you must let your pet undergo a thorough check up. By doing so, you can be assured that it would be fine again at the end of the day.
