Your Career As A Game Warden

If you are a game warden your duty is to protect the nature against human. Your duty is to enforce rules and regulation against hunting and fishing and this enforcement is helpful to save the countless species habitat.

Your working place is out of door

As a junior warden you are not able to choose your posting place. In some case the job is relaxing also. You should be prepared to work in an unsympathetic and risky environment.

Know about your duties

Your initial duty is to put in force of the fishing, hunting and boating laws. As a warden your working area is vast. It includes rivers, lakes, mountains, beaches, and deserts and other recreational area.

Prepare yourself according the requirements

The required skills differ from state to state though every state follows some common rules. In the state Texas the required age is only 18 where in most of the states demand is 21. It is convenient to have a 4 year graduate degree in the related field for all states. You can complete your graduation on Biology, Wildlife Management, or Criminal Justice to get benefit.

Know about the nature

The men who are doing well in this field has a strong background on wildlife. It is also important to have an addiction to nature. A true game warden should have an access ability to all terrain vehicles. You might have to stay outside for a day to many days.

You should have a good knowledge of local laws and regulations

You should have an excellent knowledge of wildlife laws of your state before applying as a game warden. This knowledge will support you to pass test taken by the academy.

Know the time of registration

Mostly, you can apply once or two times in a year in every state. Get update to know the apply time of your state and complete your apply process before the deadline.

Take some physical training

You have to take physical test prior to being admitted. Different states have different requirements of this test. Timed push ups, sit-ups, and mile runs etc are some physical test. You might have to face swimming test in some state.

Take training from the academy

It is mandatory to all cadets to complete a training course on an academy of his own state. You need about (7-8) months to complete the training.

Achieve your cadetship

A senior officer will train you, once you have completed your graduation course. Generally the duration of the training is 6 months. Now you are ready for launching at your specific working zone.
