Understanding Processing Of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

By Robert Sutter

I think that there is a lot to be considered when it comes to extra virgin olive oil. It is apparent that the health properties are going to be looked into but what about the way in which it is processed? Of course, this has to be done with a certain level of care set in place but what if I were to tell you that there was more to consider about this level of creation? This is where you are going to want to look at the comparisons between traditional and more modern processes.

If you want to look at the way that extra virgin olive oil was produced through traditional processes, you are going to want to focus on the pressure method. The way that this was done was through a large cylindrical stone, which was utilized in order to press the oil in question. As strong as this might have been in the past, you have to consider the fact that it might not have been nearly as effective as it should have been. There are a couple of aspects that authorities the likes of Flavor Your Life can focus on.

"Finishing separation" is a point to consider when you are speaking about the processing of the oil in question. Vegetal water is separated from the oil through this method but there are a couple of problems with this. One of the biggest, from what I have seen, has to do with how the separation process is not exactly complete in this regard. It goes without saying that this is a problem for oil producers, though fortunately there were more complete processes that had come about later on.

The centrifugal method, by comparison, is one of the more useful types and I do not think that anyone can argue against his point. This is one that is able to ensure better separation of the vegetal water from the oil. In addition, it will be able to lead to better stability for when it is stored. This, in turns, leads to a higher quality of oil being brought about, which is a point that just about anyone will be able to agree with in the long term.

I am sure that those who keep such information in the back of their minds will have an easier time selecting extra virgin olive oil. This is easily one of the best products out there and I'd like to think that there are many health benefits that stand out over the course of time. Of course, processing has to be covered as well, which is where the centrifugal method should be looked into. This will make it all the easier for you to pick out products which are the best.
